In this one-hour workshop, we’ll very briefly discuss the current research on writing and engagement and then dive right in to what the research tells us about designing assignments that encourage your students to engage more deeply into the content and reasoning skills you want to help them develop. This workshop should help instructors who teach in all disciplines and at all levels. It should be helpful for you if you’ve considered assigning writing but have hesitated because you’re concerned it will require too much time or will result in ungradable poor-quality writing. There are alternatives that have proved successful for professors here at UNM and for thousands of instructors in large universities very much like UNM. Also, there will be cookies.
