Center for Digital Learning

Lauren Perry-Rummel holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Mexico (2021). She taught in UNM's English department from 2015-2020 and is thrilled to be back at UNM as an Instructional Designer. Before her time at UNM, she served as full-time Humanities Faculty at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. She also taught at the University of Wyoming during her Master of Arts in English. She has numerous scholarly publications, two of which examine innovative pedagogical approaches to literature. Since she began teaching university English courses in 2011, Lauren has found it an exciting challenge to utilize emerging platforms and tools to engage various types of learners. She has earned several teaching awards, including Outstanding Core Writing Instructor at UNM in 2018. In 2020, she received the distinguished Bilinski Fellowship for Dissertation Completion. Lauren enjoys investigating new technologies for how they can enhance evidence-based teaching practices. Prior to joining CTL in January of 2023, she served as an Instructional Consultant at CNM and remains part-time faculty at CNM and (remotely) at the University of Arizona. Working with UNM faculty is a true joy for Lauren, and she is grateful to be a Lobo again.

Lauren's first monograph, Animal Texts: Critical Animal Concepts in Environmental Literature for the Anthropocene, is under contract at Lexington Books (expected late 2023).
