Transcripts for Audio and Video
What is it?
Like video, audio files should always include an accessible alternative. In many cases, this might mean providing a transcript of all audio content, and those transcripts should include a description of important audio information. If the audio is uploaded through a platform like Kaltura, you might provide closed captioning in addition to a transcript.
How to Create a Transcript
If you are using a podcast or other audio-only content, many of these sites offer a transcript that can be linked or downloaded. Or, this type of content can also be uploaded into Kaltura to create captions/transcripts.
If you can download the podcast, another option is to use the web version of Microsoft Word. For more information, watch Microsoft’s video on creating a transcript from a pre-recorded file.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) success criteria
Providing transcripts meets Success Criteria 1.2.1 – Audio-only and Video-only.
