Student Learning Assistance at the Center for Teaching and Learning is an award-winning learning assistance program available to all UNM students enrolled in undergraduate classes. We offer peer tutoring and academic support services for over 800 classes each semester. Regular CTL users graduate faster, more often, and with better grades than students who don’t use Student Learning Assistance.
Our Services
CTL offers five main programs, each of which are staffed by and serve students:
- STEM Tutoring: one-on-one tutoring in STEM course content via in person and online modalities
- Writing and Languages Tutoring: writing support and language conversation groups via in person and online modalities
- Supplemental Instruction (SI): peer-led instruction outside the classroom in a collaborative learning setting that targets historically difficult courses
- Learning Strategies: study skills and metacognition support in group and individual settings
- Online Learning Assistance: embedded tutors assigned to fully remote courses who provide content support and online community building

- Come prepared with course materials or necessary technology (e.g., assignments, textbooks, your laptop)
- Focus on academic work
- Our student staff are professionals, so they will be conducting themselves professionally and we expect the same from you
