Instructional Designer Support

The Digital Learning @ CTL group offers a wide range of support options to faculty on the main campus of UNM.  Each fully online faculty is assigned an instructional designer to assist with the pedagogical and technological considerations of teaching online.  We also offer a range of workshops on our Learning Management System (UNM Learn) and a 6-week course covering the ins and outs of teaching online.  In addition, we offer Open Lab sessions for all faculty and can come to your department to cover specific topics.

Instructional Designers

When you teach an online course at UNM you have the opportunity to work with an instructional designer from Digital Learning @ CTL. Our instructional designers can be thought partners for your course design, pedagogical strategies, and assessment tools. Instructional designers are available to support instructors through the many stages of their online courses. This includes working with the instructor to develop and build new courses, providing technical and pedagogical support to the instructor as courses run, and providing ongoing support for instructors as they improve existing courses.

Workshops

We offer a variety of workshops on different topics related to UNM Learn.  Some of our workshops are offered as webinars. Please see the Workshops and Open Labs Schedule for more details.

Evidence-Based Practices for Teaching Online

A minimum of five times per year, we offer an Evidence-Based Practices for Teaching Online course.  This is a 6-week intensive course for faculty who are teaching online—open to all experience levels.  Faculty members get a chance to experience an online course as a student (an invaluable experience) while learning more about our LMS and designing an effective online course. Submit your registration form to join us in an upcoming session. (Click on the Teaching & Learning Workshops button to view the schedule.)

Open Labs

Open Labs allow instructors to meet one-on-one with an instructional designer and ask questions about teaching effectively with Canvas, as well as other aspects of course design. Pre-registration is not required and all sessions are virtual. To see a list of upcoming Open Lab sessions, please visit our Workshops and Open Labs Schedule.
