Kyle Castro is the Student Success Supervisor for CAPS Learning Strategies and Supplemental Instruction programs. He is a first-generation college graduate and received his Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership with a focus in Social Justice from University of Northern Colorado. He has experience in various programs and departments, which include work in college readiness, event programming, recruitment, academic coaching, academic advising, and scholarships. Before joining UNM, he served as an Advisor for a TRIO/SSS program at University of Northern Colorado, a College Counselor for the Colorado Department of Higher Education, and an Academic Advising Coordinator and Scholar Programs Coordinator at Colorado School of Mines. His professional interests include non-traditional students in transition to college, community acceptance and advocacy for underrepresented student populations, first-generation student leadership, and the use of metacognition as a tool to develop student resiliency and strategy.
