Language Conversation Groups

Conversation Groups will start on August 31^st, 2026

In addition to language tutoring, the CTL Writing and Language team offers conversation groups. Conversation groups provide an informal setting to practice using the language by engaging in conversation with language tutors and other language learners. Our language tutors make conversation groups fun by incorporating activities, movies, and games into the language learning process. All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at UNM are welcome!

Conversation groups are provided in Arabic, ASL, Chinese, English (ESL), French, German, Greek, Japanese, Latin, Navajo, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Conversation groups are available in person and meetings are held in the Language Learning Center, on the first floor of Ortega Hall. The Language Learning Center's mission is: "To support all aspects of language learning at the University of New Mexico. We provide expertise, resources, and space for language classes."

CTL language tutors can assist with all aspects of your language learning experience, from grammar and pronunciation to writing and conversation skills. Find drop-in language tutoring support here. Students can also submit written work in the languages listed above, online, to have a language tutor review their writing!
