Mitch Marty joined the Digital Learning program as an instructional designer in June 2022. He has taught college level English courses in multiple modalities with the Department of English at UNM since 2017, including first-year composition, professional and technical communication, and creative writing. As a first-generation college graduate, he believes it is essential to be able to adapt and learn through the process of course design and teaching to better understand who our students are, where they come from, and what their needs are, in order to build a community in the classroom that meets students' needs and contributes to their success. His professional interests also include developing alternative approaches to traditional assessment, applying knowledge in real world contexts, and incorporating reflection as an active part of the learning process.
Mitch holds a BA in English Rhetoric & Writing from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Mexico, and he is currently working on a memoir titled The Ridgeway Ghost.
