Get Set Reset is held annually the week before the start of the fall semester, and features concurrent sessions focused on actionable strategies that all instructors can apply to their teaching in the coming semester/academic year. Each year, in addition to offerings designed for all instructors, the program includes sessions specific to the needs of teaching assistants.

Well-being as Pedagogy: Cultivating Presence, Community, & Hope in Distressing Times

Description: This session will focus on thoughtful resiliency. We will examine what it means to bring our hearts to teaching and learning in these chaotic and challenging times. We will especially explore the importance of supporting students to also bring their whole selves to their educational journeys. Furthermore, we will consider ways of sharing strength and drawing stability through solidarity and care for one another.

Description: Following up on our morning conversation on community creation within the classroom, this panel session is a dialogue with a collective of graduate teaching assistants. Set Students Up for Success with Transparent Assignment Design

Description: oin us as we discuss Transparent Assignment Design (Winklemes, 2019). In a 2016 study at UNLV, outcomes including persistence and retention for a cohort of students who received assignments following the transparent design framework were higher than those of the control group. In this workshop, we will cover how to create or revise an assignment using Transparent Assignment Design. Suggested: Bring an assignment you’re preparing to use this Fall and rework it to support student success!
